The Program
The Graduate Program in Music at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) was established in 2016 as a result of the convergence of various research groups and professors working in undergraduate programs at UFPE, all dedicated to research in the field of Music. Among the faculty, there are musicians, ethnomusicologists, historians, anthropologists, sociologists, and communication specialists, forming an interdisciplinary and highly qualified teaching staff.
The collective effort culminated in the creation of the Master's course in Music, which stands out as the first of its kind in Pernambuco. This program not only fills a significant gap in the state's academic landscape but also strengthens research and the training of new professionals in the field of Music, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and musical culture in Brazil.
The Master's program aims to provide advanced and interdisciplinary training, encouraging the production of innovative and relevant research. Through theoretical and practical courses, students are prepared to face contemporary challenges in the musical field with a critical and integrative perspective.
Since its inception, the program has consolidated and attracted students from various regions of the country and established partnerships with other educational and research institutions, both in Brazil and abroad. This network of collaboration further enhances the program's ability to generate significant impacts in the field of Music.
